Description:

This Culture Night, The Write Stuff presents This Is Not Nostalgia, an evening of storytelling, poetry, music, and memory celebrating the people and places that have shaped Dublin’s character.

Following the success of its inaugural Culture Night event in 2025, and a series of collaborations with venues including Chapters Bookstore, The Hendrick Smithfield, The Liberty Market, the James Joyce Centre, Dublin by Dusk, and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, The Write Stuff returns with a specially curated programme hosted by Dublin writer Steve O’Toole.

The evening features award-winning storyteller Sinéad O’Brien of Wandering Stories Theatre, singer-songwriter Tony St Ledger, award-winning playwright Frank Shouldice, and iconic Dublin DJ Dandelion. Together, they will present an original blend of stories, poems, and songs, accompanied by a digital backdrop celebrating Dublin’s distinctive people and places.

From Brendan Behan and Bang Bang to Arthur Fields, Pat Ingoldsby, Thom McGinty (The Diceman), Dancing Mary Margaret Dunne, Pat Tierney, and many of the city’s beloved street buskers, This Is Not Nostalgia reflects on a Dublin that has changed, celebrating the characters whose lives continue to shape the cultural memory of the city’s streets.
