Description:

HEADSPACE is an award-winning Irish short film written and directed by Aisling Byrne and produced by Killian Coyle for Run of the Mill, in association with Arcade Film. Filmed entirely on location in Celbridge, Co. Kildare, the film stars local actor Mark Smith in a breakout lead performance as a young man with Down syndrome who, as the tensions and frustrations of life in a community house begin to close in on him, realises he may have to cross a line to end a nightly disturbance.

Produced by Kildare-based inclusive arts organisation Run of the Mill, HEADSPACE won the Oscar®-qualifying Grand Prix for Best Irish Short at Cork International Film Festival 2022, before screening at dozens of international film festivals, receiving numerous awards and accolades, and premiering nationally on RTÉ Player. Funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, the film reflects Run of the Mill’s distinctive collaborative approach to filmmaking, creating bold, artist-led work with and by artists with intellectual disabilities. Founded in Kildare in 2014, Run of the Mill is one of Ireland’s leading inclusive arts organisations and is proudly supported by Kildare County Council.

No booking required. The film will be screened on the upstairs Mezzanine in Celbridge library, accessible by stair lift.
