Founded in Ireland in November 2024, Calpulli Mictlan is a Mexica (Aztec) ceremonial dance group dedicated to preserving and sharing the ancestral traditions of Mexico.

Through ritual dance, ceremonial attire, and ancestral instruments, the group brings stories, traditions, and spiritual practices passed down through generations to new audiences. The name Mictlan reflects the group’s connection with ancestors and the spiritual journey at the heart of Mexica cosmology. As a calpulli, meaning “great house” or “community”, the group provides a space for learning, cultural exchange, and collective practice.

This Culture Night, audiences at Wood Quay Amphitheatre are invited to experience the living heritage of Indigenous Mexican traditions through the art of ceremonial dance.
