Description:
Discover one of Dublin’s most remarkable hidden historic houses as 3 Mountjoy Square opens its doors for Culture Night 2026. Behind its elegant Georgian façade lies a building that played a pivotal role in Ireland’s journey to independence.
Owned by Walter Cole, a close associate of Arthur Griffith, No. 3 became a discreet meeting place for the leaders of the independence movement. Following the suppression of the First Dáil in 1919, the house hosted secret meetings of Dáil Éireann, with key figures including Michael Collins, Arthur Griffith, and other revolutionary leaders gathering here to shape the future of the nation.
The house offers a rare opportunity to experience both the beauty of Georgian Dublin and the stories of courage, vision and determination that unfolded within its walls.
Join the Dublin Adult Learning Centre this Culture Night and uncover the extraordinary history hidden behind one of Dublin’s finest Georgian doors.
