Werner Herzog’s ‘Fitzcarraldo’ Screening

Goethe-Institut Irland

On the occasion of German cult filmmaker Werner Herzog’s 80th birthday the Goethe-Institut Irland presents ‘Fitzcarraldo’, one of his most acclaimed and audacious films starring Klaus Kinski and Claudia Cardinale. ‘Fitzcarraldo’ tells the incredible story of Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, an obsessive dreamer and opera-loving fortune hunter who is determined to bring opera to a remote trading post in the heart of the Amazon jungle.

Dir.: Werner Herzog, colour, 157 min., Federal Republic of Germany 1981/82
