Vocal Workshop at Loughboy Library

Facilitiator: Barbara Kelly, Musician Educator - Music Generation Kilkenny

A fun and engaging singing workshop suitable for children age 8-12 years. During the workshop children will develop a strong sense of team spirit, co-operation, and communication through whole group singing engagement.
Children will
• develop an innate strong sense of pulse (steady beat), duration (long/short/patterns/rhythms), tempo (fast/slow), pitch (high/low), dynamics (loud/soft), structure (same/different), texture (one sound/several sounds).
• develop vocal styles – 2 and 3-part songs as well as rounds and ostinatos.
• learn body percussion patterns, movement to music, musical games, call and response exercises
• feel confident singing
• develop their creativity and their improvisation skills.

The workshop will give children the opportunity to socialise through singing and help improve their singing ability and skills.
