Visibility for Disability Documentary

Access for All

VISIBILITY FOR DISABILITY – We will be launching a documentary film produced and directed by members of Access for All, an award-winning community network of groups and individuals in Galway. As Culture Night is an all-inclusive celebration of the arts, the film will provide a unique cultural perspective with an enlightening look at the lives of people living in Galway with disabilities.

Film followed by Panel: “Visibility for Disability” will be showcasing the diversity of disabilities as well as the diversity of people living with those disabilities with a focus on the lived experience of being disabled in Galway. Through the power of their personal stories, members of Access for All will show how societal barriers disable them and how removing those barriers through universal design can lead to a community that works better for everyone. A theme running through the film will be every person’s right to seek and realise independent lives and that the best visibility for disability is active participation in support of the recognition of basic human rights. The film, which will include an introduction from a local political representative, is to be produced by Aran Asan with screenwriting by Rose Foley.
The panel will be present to discuss main aspects of the film and to answer questions from the audience, further aiding in raising disability awareness by giving the public an opportunity to discuss challenging questions relating to sensitive issues in a safe environment.
