Formed in 2015 Velvet Alibi is the groove based music of Anna Nolan and Rohan Armstrong.
Their expansive sound merges funky beats and virtuosic improvisation with melodic song-writing and lush vocal harmonies. They have built a reputation for extremely energetic live shows zig-zagging between groove inspired genres, always getting audiences on their feet.
“Exciting hard-hitting soul/funk with one hell of an onstage vibe.”
David Lyttle, Mobo nominee 2016, acclaimed drummer/producer and Lyte Records label owner
“Adventurous, accomplished and motivating. Velvet Alibi is an orchestra much greater than the sum of all its individually very talented parts.”
Paul Brown, Festival Director, Earagail Arts Festival
“One of the highlights of our Jazz Festival weekend. Velvet Alibi blew the roof off and closed the festival in style. Fantastic band and great music. Has to be one of the top original acts around today.”
John Leighton, owner/promoter, Bennigans, Derry.
