Top 8 Culture Night – Dance Limerick – Session 1
Top 8, who have been organising hugely successful Hip-Hop events for the last decade, are presenting a free over 18’s social gathering for Culture Night life in collaboration with Dance Limerick on Friday 22nd September in the form of two sessions. This is an invitation to everyone of all cultural backgrounds and ethnicities.
Top 8 aim to work with some incredible local Limerick and national artists, giving the people of Limerick and beyond ways to find out more about Street Dance, Hip-Hop and other influential cultures within our local communities.
The event is a celebration of cultures, honouring our differences but most importantly our similarities in the areas of Dance, Voice, Art and Music. This event hopes to showcase the rich and underground culture of neo- Irish-Afrolism which is a healthy blend of Irish, UK, West-African and American culture with dance cyphers and performances from Limerick's own Strange Boy and Dublin based NeuBrí. Limerick rapper Strange Boy will combine trad and Hip Hop. NeuBrí, the name comes from the word New, and the Irish word Brí, meaning new expression, through afrobeats, Rn8, Hip Hop and pop music.
The night will also host Limerick based DJ CC, World Scratching Champion DJ Flip and Saxophonist TK SAX .
Dance performances will be infused throughout the event from Irish dance to the social dance moves of Hip-Hop and Break Dance, to the rhythmic body movements of Afro fusion and freestyle movements of All Styles. We will then see the event carry on through the night to the Commercial Bar, The Rec. Room. Where we see a Saxophonist, local DJs and invited DJs provide the very best in music to bring the night to a close.
