Description:

The exhibition ‘Through a Charcoal Lens | an Spéir ARK and its Native Plants’ by environmental artist Jen Castle will be taking place from Monday 7th to Saturday 19th September in the Mayfair Library, Kilkenny.

To celebrate Culture Night Kilkenny on Friday 18th September, there will be a participatory ‘drop-in’ event taking place in the exhibition space. During the evening, visitors of all ages and abilities will be invited to engage with the exhibition through a hands-on charcoal drawing workshop inspired by the charcoal and egg tempera artworks of plants on display.

Participants will work from freshly gathered plants and flowers sourced from the re-wilded land of an Spéir ARK, while experiencing an original soundscape created from field recordings made on-site by guest musician Kate Powell.

During the evening of Culture Night, Kate Powell will perform live alongside the soundscape installation.

Light refreshments will be provided.
