What Threads Us Together is a free community street embroidery gathering on Culture Night, hosted outside LIV Vintage Studio under a canopy on the street from 4pm to 7pm.A large shared cloth is laid out on a communal frame, alongside stamps of Chinese symbols, Ogham marks, spirals and symbols of protection. Passers-by are invited to contribute however they like stamp a symbol, draw freehand, embroider on top, or simply add a knot. Drawing and stitching sit side by side. You choose your own way in. Three community embroiderers will work on the cloth for the full three hours, drawing and stitching continuously — teaching by doing, inspiring by being present. The cloth grows across the evening, mark by mark, stitch by stitch. The simple knot stitch is the anchor technique — the same stitch for everyone.
