Description:

Brónagh McAtasney from Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive presents a collection of films on flax and linen.
From the gathering of flax through to the mill, the story of linen is the story of Belfast. The archive films trace this history from the rural cottage to the catwalks of the world. The presentation will include a chance to see samples of the work of John McAtasney, Ireland’s last handweaver of Damask linen.
The Digital Film Archive is a free public access resource. Constantly updated and expanding, the Archive contains thousands of hours of moving image titles, spanning from 1897 to the present day.
