For Culture Night, The Steam Museum will present an exhibition of Brian Hickey’s photography featuring model engines and museum displays. Inspired by cinema and pulp comics, artist Brian Hickey composes dramatic scenes in miniature scale, before capturing them with his camera.
Working with the beautiful model engines of The Steam Museum, he has created classic scenes of villains, heroes and the apocalypse. In addition to his photographs, one of his dioramas will be displayed, giving visitors an insight into the creative process behind the photographs.
Additionally, visitors will have a chance to see the historic walled garden from a different perspective on the night. Enjoyed mostly for its vivid colour during the day, its illumination will highlight some of the other key features of the garden including; the foliage-covered period walls, the structure of the yew topiary and the many contrasting shapes and sizes of the varied trees, plants, flowers and foliage of the main borders, all lit up at night.
Enjoy a guided tour with the head gardener who will talk through the history of the garden and discuss which plants are in flower and at their best throughout the Autumn months.
