’The Pipes are Calling’ – A classical concert for voice and organ with Dunlavin-based baritone opera singer, Gyula Nagy and organist, Judit Máté. Guest musicians: Ballymore Eustace Concert Band. 18th September, 7.30pm in Saint Nicholas of Myra RC Church, Dunlavin.

Besides being a concert and church organist, Judit is the Artistic Director of the famous Dún Laoghaire Summer Organ Concerts, while Gyula is an international opera singer, who has performed with companies such as Irish National Opera, Opéra National de Lorraine, Hungarian State Opera and the Royal Ballet and Opera Covent Garden.

On Culture Night, their concert celebrates the power and importance of art, especially organ music. Their programme includes works by J. S. Bach, Georg Friedrich Handel, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and more. The event showcases the Griffen & Stroud organ of Dunlavin, while the architectural beauty of the church of St Nicholas of Myra provides the atmospheric surrounding, creating an intimate, yet communal experience. The event includes a short description of the organ, while at the end of the concert, people can have a closer look at it as well.

The length of the concert will be roughly 1.5hour, with an interval. Admission is free of charge.
