Assistant Curator Daniel McDonald selects his favourite works from the exhibition A Thought of Sligo. This exhibition examines the influence of Sligo and the West on the development of Yeats’ creative practice. Having spent his childhood in Sligo town in the care of his grandparents and extended family, Jack Yeats was deeply inspired by the people and landscape of the area. Daniel will reflect on key works from Yeats’ career – from his early illustrative works to his watercolours and late period oil paintings.
