Description:

Step back to the Lough Sillan Regatta’s of the 1960’s and 70’s!

A lost chapter of local history is brought back to life this Culture Night in Shercock through rare archival footage of the famous Lough Sillan Regatta’s.

Discovered by the McCaffery family following the passing of Loretta McCaffery, one of the Regatta founding members, this silent film captures a vibrant social tradition from our lake shores. Accompanying the footage Stephen McCaffery of The High Stool Prophets will perform an original musical underscore live on the night in St Patrick’s Hall.

Fill siar go Regattaí Loch Síleann na 1960’s agus na 70’s! Tugtar caibidil chaillte de stair áitiúil ar ais chun beatha ar Oíche Chultúir na bliana seo i Searcóg, trí phíosaí scannánaíochta cartlainne neamhchoitianta de Regattaí cáiliúla Loch Síleann.

D’aimsigh muintir McCaffery an scannán tar éis bhás Loretta McCaffery, duine de bhunbhaill an Regatta. Gabhann an scannán ciúin seo traidisiún sóisialta bríomhar ó bhruacha an locha.

Mar thionlacan don scannán, cuirfidh Stephen McCaffery ó The High Stool Prophets ceol cúlra bunaidh i láthair beo ar an oíche i Halla Naomh Pádraig.
