The Legend of St Brigid’s Cloak

Leixlip Community Youth Band will present The Legend of St Brigid’s Cloak, the story about the miracle of her cloak in which Brigid came to acquire the land to build her monastery in Kildare.

LCYB Musicians and Leixlip Twirlers will celebrate this wonderful story through poetry, music, songs and dance. The performance in Leixlip GAA Club will incorporate traditional instruments including violins, tin whistles, accordions, concertinas, bodhrans, guitars, and harps, accompanied by Irish Dancers and Twirlers.

Wonderful Brigid
We sing a song to Brigid,
Brigid brings the spring
Awakens all the fields and the flowers
And calls the birds to sing.

1. All were welcome at her door,
no one was turned away
She loved the poor, the sick and the sore
She helped them on their way.

2. She laid her cloak out on the ground
And watched it grow and grow,
In wells and streams and fields of green
St. Brigid’s blessings flow
