Description:

Step back in time and hear the story of the Helen Blake, the Fethard lifeboat lost in the tragic disaster of 1914. This special Culture Night event combines local history, music and storytelling in the unique setting of St. Mogue’s Church.

Local historian and photographer, Liam Ryan, will share the remarkable story of the tragedy through a series of short, engaging illustrated talks throughout the evening.

The St. Mogue’s Music and Song Club will perform a selection of sea shanties and local songs, including pieces inspired by the Helen Blake disaster. Audience members are encouraged to join in the singing using the provided song sheets and discover the wonderful acoustics for themselves.
