Bretzel Bakery – The Culture of Bread Bretzel Bakery, Lennox St. | September 18th, 5pm–9pm

At Bretzel, bread is a measure of character, care and culture. It means choosing patience over instant gratification, using honest ingredients, and keeping connections alive with the communities we bake for and the people who grow with us. For Culture Night 2026, we invite visitors to experience “The Culture of Bread”, an evening celebrating traditional baking, craftsmanship and community!

The evening will be complete with: Live Baking Demonstrations Throughout the evening, our bakers will demonstrate the baking of three traditional breads: Focaccia – exploring stretching and shaping techniques. Sourdough – from mixing and natural fermentation to the importance of time. French baguettes – highlighting their distinct shaping and baking process. Tastings

Visitors can enjoy fresh sourdough, crispy baguettes, and focaccia variations. This will also give us an opportunity to engage with our local community and gather feedback as we prepare to introduce new sandwich varieties at the bakery. Traditional Irish Music Live traditional music will create a warm, welcoming atmosphere and celebrate Bretzel’s role as a neighbourhood bakery, connecting food, culture and community. Take Home a Sourdough Starter Reviving one of Bretzel’s most successful Covid-era community initiatives, visitors can take home their own sourdough starter and continue the experience and tradition of baking at home.

The Culture of Bread brings Irish and European baking traditions together through food, craft, music and participation, making artisan bread accessible, engaging and deeply connected to community.
