After a summer of sailing Bádóirí an Chladaigh return to the Claddagh Basin as hosts and lighted backdrop for
“The Claddagh Basin Session @ Raven Terrace”.

BackWest, hailing from the heart of Galway are proud to be known as Galway’s ” Trad Super group”. BackWest were founded by the All Ireland Champion sibling duet Maureen and Brendan Browne. Their performances and work have received wide acclaim and awards and they have represented Ireland as cultural ambassadors on the International stage. Maureen (fiddle) and Brendan (box) will be joined by the very versatile Yvonne Fahy along with Fabian Joyce and Shane McGowan on guitars.
They promise a rip roaring set of tunes from 8pm on.
Galway girl Róisín Mulliez is a jazz vocalist who delves into the enormously rich heritage of Gershwin, Porter and Kern. With her main influences being Ella Fitzgerald and Julie London, she delivers jazz standards with that old-style class.
Róisín will be accompanied by Jimmy Fitz (Fitzgerald) guitarist, music producer and music teacher respected for his influence on the Galway and National music scene for over 30 years. Dave Mathieson will complete the trio on double base.
They take to the stage at 7pm sharp.
Bádóirí An Chladaigh are also delighted to welcome very special guests the 16 piece Sonics Strings Youth Orchestra of Coole Music under the artistic direction of Katharina Baker.
These young musicians aged 13 to 18 memorise all their performance pieces – which range from classical to world music to contemporary pop and rock – and present them in choreographed ways .
Sonics Strings are gifting their performance to their hosts Bádoirí an Chladaigh with the hope that someday some of their talented group will become professional musicians of the future.
