Step into the historic Donaghmore Corn Mill and Kiln for a lively Culture Night celebration of music, community and vintage heritage. The evening brings together the feel-good sound of The Caochaleleles with an introduction to I.V.E.T.A.’s work restoring this remarkable mill complex and developing its future as a museum.

The Caochaleleles began in September 2025 as a community initiative inviting people to meet, laugh, chat and enjoy learning the ukulele together. Based at Caoch O’Leary’s in Ballacolla, the group meets every Monday evening under the musical guidance of Valerie Cassin and has grown from 15 founding members to more than 60 players.

Joined by talented local musicians, the group brings an uplifting, fun-loving sound to favourites by The Pogues, The Saw Doctors, The Cranberries, Johnny Cash and more. Their recent appearances for Aghaboe Senior Citizens, at The Tower Inn in Timahoe and at Abbeyleix House and Farm have built their reputation as a warm, energetic ensemble ready to leave Culture Night audiences smiling.

The Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Association, I.V.E.T.A., is a leading presence in Ireland’s vintage community, representing more than 12,500 enthusiasts in every county as well as members overseas.

Since purchasing Donaghmore Corn Mill and Kiln in 2012, I.V.E.T.A. has been steadily restoring the historic buildings and surrounding grounds while improving access and visitor facilities. Its long-term vision is to create an on-site museum showcasing the mill complex alongside selected vintage equipment.
