A group of female artists from the community of Ballina/Killaloe are displayinging a collection of “female self portraits”,entitled“Strong Women in theCommunity”.
History has shownWomen artists have been the subject of varying degrees of critical attention and neglect.
In todays social and economicclimate women, thanks to the assistance of the “Me Too” movement, supporting the rights of women all over the world and the campaigne “You are not alone”. Have given women artists a voice!
This vibrant group of maturefemale artists have come together tocreate an exhibition of their own personal journeys in creating a collection ofself portrait works, medium acrylic on canvas.
Their mission was to paint a strong impression of themselves to captivate the viewers, draw them into the painting, and engage their attention. Hopefully causing the viewer’s to wonder.
Only recently formed, they have grown as individual artist and developed as a group.
Facilitated by the Tipperary Eduction and Training Board, in collaborationwithKillaloe/Ballina Family Resource Centre, offering a number of courses in the art’s and craft area’s.
Tipperary Community Eduction Board offers Adult learning in a wide range of settings which is aimed at adults who would not normally participate in further education and training centres, it’s often a collaboration of local authorities and community based organisations. The holistic development of the learner provides growth, expansion and progress to their own success.
