Submerged : A short film inspired by Clogh Oughter Island.

A short film developed from a research period on Clogh Oughter Island.

Created by Kim Mc Cafferty and Jessie Keenan in collaboration with filmmaker Padraig Conaty

Clogh Oughter Castle is a spectacular circular tower on a tiny man-made island in Lough Oughter, Co. Cavan. Built around 1220, the castle had a sprawling history that was often fraught with violence. It changed ownership many times and played a key role in Ulster and Ireland’s history.

Today this peaceful island is primarily the domain of swans, ducks and the occasional curious, inspired artist.

This project sees Jessie Keenan, dancer & choreographer, and Kim Mc Cafferty, actor & physical performer, embarking on an exciting new work that draws inspiration from this iconic heritage site, Clogh Oughter Castle. Collaborating with filmmaker Padraig Conaty they have created Submerged which will be screened at the Cavan County Museum as part of Culture Night, Friday 18th September.

This work is supported by Cavan Arts Office, Cavan Heritage Office and Culture Night and will also feature on Cavan Arts YouTube Channel for 24hours.
