Description:
Som do Brasil—meaning The Sound of Brazil—celebrates the music and rhythms that have shaped Brazil’s rich musical heritage.
Brazilian musicians Cairo Rocha, Tony Sozza and André Alexandre join Ennis singer-songwriter Amanda Ní Sheannáin to perform songs by some of Brazil’s most celebrated composers and performers, including Tom Jobim, Maria Bethânia, Rita Lee, Lenine, João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Elizeth Cardoso, Emílio Santiago, Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Creuza and Toquinho.
From the gentle sway of bossa nova to the vibrant energy of samba and the timeless songs of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), the programme offers a journey through some of Brazil’s most iconic music. Beloved around the world for its warmth, melody and infectious rhythms, this repertoire captures the richness, joy and soul of Brazilian musical culture.
To mark this special Culture Night performance, subtle moments of the Irish language will be woven into selected songs, offering a unique local touch while celebrating the enduring spirit of Brazilian music
