A special evening to share and celebrate Irish and Ukrainian traditions around the harvest festival. The 23rd of September is Culture Night across the island of Ireland but it is also the Autumn Equinox and marks the Ukrainian Harvest festival Dożynki.
There are many shared traditions in the way this time was celebrated in folk culture in Ireland and Ukraine.
This evening event is an opportunity to introduce and welcome some of the Ukrainian community in Mayo to the National Museum of Ireland.
It will include guided tours of the Museum, a talk on harvest traditions, a children’s activity and a fun, hands-on straw craft workshop.
There will be music and food and the Museum will also launch a newly created Ukrainian language floor plan.
To book e-mail [email protected] – This event is fully Booked.
