Screening: ‘Variations’

The Embassy of Portugal invites you to participate in a celebration of Portuguese culture through the screening of the film ‘Variations’, followed by an informal social gathering.

‘Variations’ depicts the life of famous Portuguese pop and folk singer, António Variações, his artistic journey throughout the 1980s and the battle against prejudice that he faced. He was a unique man who had to fight to make his dreams come true, passionate about music in a still deeply conservative society.

Directed by João Maia in 2019, this feature film will be screened in the original language with subtitles in English. This event is organised with the support of Camões — Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua I.P. and the Embassy of Portugal in Ireland.

This event is part of the European Culture Trail – a EUNIC Ireland (European Union National Institutes for Culture) initiative in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Ireland.
