Ruffled Feathers, a rehearsed reading

- Offline
Description:
Ruffled Feathers is a contemporary retelling of the legend of The Children of Lir, a well-known tale in Irish mythology. The play takes place in a magical realm above the clouds, where Aoife was banished following her crime against the children. Here we meet Aoife and Aobh, two sisters who are attempting to tell the audience the true story from their perspective. Aobh was Lir’s second wife, and the mother of the four children and Aoife was his third wife, who turned the children into swans. ‘Through this retelling of the well-known myth I wish to explore gender roles, motherhood, grief, femininity, and all of the magic of Irish mythology.’ This rehearsed reading will be presented as a work in progress.
