An evening of music and literature celebrating inspirational Roundstone and Inishlacken. Susan Hughes and Paddy McKeown began playing music together during the long summer solstice evenings around the campfire while attending the Inishlacken Project Residency. They are delighted to return to Roundstone to perform Irish Traditional tunes they now associate with the island and area.
Kathy Rose O’Brien will read from the work of her great aunt the novelist and former Roundstone resident Kate O’Brien. Kathy Rose O’Brien is an actress and writer who has recently curated a tribute to her great aunt at the Museum of Literature, Ireland, MoLI.
Earlier in the day the High Tide String Band will perform pop-up sessions around the village. Susan Hughes (fiddle), Mick Brown (double bass) and Ben Keogh (five string banjo and vocals) present their repertoire of American Old Time song snap tunes with rich harmonies and driving rhythm.
This event is funded through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Local Live Performance Scheme.
