'Ocean Rhythms' Paintings and Music to Soothe the Soul

Olivia O’Keeffe is a native of Watergrasshill, Cork, who received her Diploma in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art & Design. In 1997, she emigrated to the Netherlands where she gained BA’s in Fine Art and Education in Visual Art & Design. Her works have been exhibited in Ireland and internationally. ‘Ocean Rhythms’ On Tour comes to the Red Door Gallery from a recent showing on Sherkin Island.

Two locals musicians, Claire Sheahan McMahon and her daughter Kayla are steeped in music. Claire began piano lessons as a child and moved on to the flute as a teenager. She gained a Teaching Diploma from London College and taught in Newcastle West School of Music for a number of years.

Kayla, who is 17 years old has been playing piano for 10 years and her love of music has led to her playing tin whistle, acoustic and bass guitar. She is learning the flute from her mother.

In recent times their joint love of music has led to them studying the harp together.

‘Ocean Rhythms’ is sure to be a feast for the eyes and ears.
