Description:
The Society of Recorder Players of Ireland (SRPI) founded in 1971 by recorder enthusiasts, players and teachers, is an organisation which aims to educate the public in the practice of music, particularly through the promotion of the recorder, also providing a musical network for players of all ages and abilities. Visit Tallaght Theatre on Culture Night for a performance of some of the amazing amount of music that has been composed or arranged for the recorder ensemble throughout the year, ranging from Renaissance and classical music to modern and traditional Irish music. It will also demonstrate the various sizes of recorders in the society - the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass recorder, which each create a very special sound. This varied programme, demonstrating the range and versatility of the instrument, is sure to be a very special event not to be missed.
