Place, Politics and Power – A financial justice walking tour of the International Financial Services Centre

Financial Justice Ireland
17:00 - 19:30
Booking required
All Ages

Description:

The concept of this tour is a simple yet effective one: to make real the abstract nature of globalised finance by undertaking a journey through the streets where it conducts its business. It is also, at the same time, a walk through Irish history, from the War of Independence to today’s world of transnational capital. This walking tour will take you along locations from Liberty Hall into the North and South Docklands. The tour is facilitated by Financial Justice Ireland (formerly Debt and Development Coalition Ireland) a global financial justice organisation working for a fair and just society for everyone, in collaboration with CATU (Community Action Tenants Union), AFRI Action From Ireland, former SIPTU Tutor & labour historian Mags O’Brien, artist/facilitator Neltah Chadamoyo & researcher Conor McCabe.

The 5pm meeting point for this tour is the James Connolly Statue, Beresford Place, Dublin 1.

Tá coincheap an turais seo simplí ach éifeachtach: nádúr teibí an airgeadais dhomhanda a fhíorú trí dhul ar thuras trí na sráideanna ina mbíonn sé i mbun a ghnó. Ag an am céanna, is siúlóid é freisin trí stair na hÉireann, ó Chogadh na Saoirse go saol an chaipitil thrasnáisiúnta inniu. Tabharfaidh an turas siúlóide seo tú ar feadh láithreacha ó Halla na Saoirse go dtí na Dugthailte Thuaidh agus Theas. Tá an turas á éascú ag Financial Justice Ireland (Comhghuaillíocht Debt and Development Ireland roimhe seo), eagraíocht dhomhanda um cheartas airgeadais a oibríonn ar son sochaí cothrom cóir do chách, i gcomhar le CATU (Ceardchumann Tionóntaí Gníomhaíochta Pobail), AFRI Action From Ireland, iar Theagascóir SIPTU. & staraí saothair Mags O'Brien & an taighdeoir Conor McCabe. Is é an pointe cruinnithe 5pm don turas seo ná Dealbh James Connolly, Plás Beresford, Baile Átha Cliath 1.
