People and Places: Ireland in the C19th & C20th Centuries
Look back through the camera lens at 150 years of life in Ireland. Visit the gallery of the National Photographic Archive on Culture Night for their most recent exhibition. People and Places showcases the wide breadth of photography in the NLI’s collections that relate to the history of cities, towns, villages and townlands across the island of Ireland, and the people who inhabit them. The exhibition comprises 50 photographs taken between 1858–2001, representing the age of analogue photography in Ireland. It captures the social, cultural and technological changes that have taken place across Ireland from the middle of the 19th century up to the turn of this century.
