OUTSIDE THE LINES SCULPTURE INSTALLATION by Brigid Teehan, in collaboration with Clonmel children and their families. 5pm, Grounds of Old St-Mary’s Church.
The official unveiling of this public art commission is the culmination of a five months- long exploration and socially engaged collaborative process between artist Brigid Teehan and Clonmel children and their families including young residents of Suir Island’s Hughes Mills complex. The special Arts Council 70th anniversary commission aimed to explore creative play with children using a diversity of natural materials and techniques including cob, an ancient traditional building material. Recycled and repurposed found objects, including a pulpit from Old St-Mary’s Church have also been integrated in this quirky assemblage.
The resulting artwork is a close collaboration and listening journey between the artist and the participating children which will see its unveiling as an interactive installation in the beautiful biodiverse surroundings of the church’s grounds where it will remain for a number of weeks.
Refreshments and entertainment will be provided at the event
