Launch of a new Book and songs album about the history of Balbriggan, Balrothery and Balscadden

5pm – 7:30pm

This event is the official launch of a newly-published book and an album of twelve original songs about the history of Balbriggan, Balrothery and Balscadden. All of the songs were written and recorded by local musicians, combining a unique blend of Folk, Country, and Ballad music traditions. The book is a collaboration between a local historian, the musicians, and local artists who made original artwork and sketches. The creators, twenty
two people in all, worked voluntarily in partnership with Balbriggan Community Council, Fingal County Council Libraries, and Creative Ireland to deliver this project.

They are launching and presenting the book and the album as a free resource for dissemination throughout the three communities and their Diasporas, using a custom website developed by a member of the group. One key ambition of the creators is to see their project implemented and used in all local schools as a platform for learning, celebration of, and commemoration of, the history of our people, our places and our past.
