For Culture Night, artist Jade Butler will host an open studio at Teahouses 2, supported by the Kilkenny Arts Office as part of her current residency.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see works in progress from her new portraiture and still life project, which examines cultural identity, memory and personal history. Throughout the evening, Jade will speak about her practice, her approach to slow, layered oil painting, and how each work develops from initial photographic reference into a considered painted form.

The open studio offers a direct look at the working environment enabled by the residency and the direction of this evolving body of work. It is an informal chance for visitors to meet the artist, ask questions, and gain insight into the themes shaping the project.
