Open Studio and Artists Meet (Enniscorthy)

Meet the artists Rory Draper, Marja van Kampen & Eilish McCann for an open studio afternoon and discussion about the challenges facing artists in rural Ireland. This will be a great opportunity to meet fellow artists but also for those interested in learning more about working artists in Ireland. The event will be catered with some light refreshments.

Rory Draper is a visual artist based in Wexford, having graduated from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dublin in 2006 and later from the National College of Art and Design in 2010 Rory then moved to London where he lived and worked for a number of years. Rory then returned to Wexford following a breakdown/ breakthrough just before the first COVID19 Lockdown. During this experience Rory found solace in creating, in recognition and in documentation. Rory is currently artist in residence at Presentation Arts Centre Enniscorthy.

Marja van Kampen is a full time painter and printmaker. Recent exhibitions include solo shows in the Kenny Gallery, Galway, Signal Arts Centre, Bray and a St Brigid Day exhibition for Irish female artists in the Art Museum, Ankara, Turkey. Her work is in many public art collections including the Arts Council of Ireland, Office of Public Works and 4 of her paintings are in Áras an Uachteráin

Eilish McCann is an artist based in Enniscorthy. She makes figurative work in paint and print mediums. Her work contains a narrative element, depicting scenes from everyday life. She has exhibited extensively in Ireland and was shortlisted for the Hennessy Portrait Prize at the National Gallery Ireland in 2017. Recent exhibitions in the UK include Beep Wales (2022), Royal Watercolour Society Open, London (2022) and the Ruth Borchard Prize, UK (2021). Eilish graduated with a Diploma in Art and Design with distinction from GMIT, Galway (2001) and completed the Turps Art School, London correspondence course in painting 2019-2021. She has received a Visual Arts Bursary and a Professional Development Award from the Arts Council.
