Reveal the past by marking out prints from intricate details on the monuments, headstones, and standing stones around Ireland’s Ancient East. Artist and designer Angelina Foster uses gravestone rubbing to bring the past up close, introducing you to dramatic stories and legends as you trace Ireland’s traditions and symbols.
This fun and absorbing activity gives everyone an appreciation of Ireland’s past. Graveyards are like outdoor museums, full of history to explore.
You are invited to view a short film of workshop footage facilitated by Angelina in Old St Michael’s Medieval Graveyard, demonstrating safe techniques in taking a print from a headstone or carving. They will discuss the symbolism of the carvings and the many stories uncovered.
