The Bronte Family in 15 Objects


Charlotte Brontë married Banagher man Arthur Bell Nicholls. In 1861 he brought all the remaining Brontë belongings back to Banagher.

This online zoom talk will provide an insight into the Brontë family through 15 items in this collection. Branwell’s Pillar Portrait is one of the objects under discussion.

Energise | Envisage | Engage - Offaly Culture Night film


Energise | Envisage | Engage is a specially commissioned film for Culture Night 2020, showcasing the work of some of Offaly’s amazing artists.

Commissioned by Offaly Arts it features an eclectic mix of performances and installations in a number of stunning locations and venues around the county, creating an artistic impression of a people and a place.

It will showcase new songs by Mundy, Tolü Makay – Artist Page and Hubert Murray; spoken word by Richard Brennan Scene Of The Rhyme; music by Aoise O’Dwyer, Sadie Mitchell and Sean Ryan; contemporary dance by Amy Donlon and her dance company inc Isobel Gibney, Mia Gibney, Sophie Gibney and Rebecca Walsh; and traditional dance by Ciara Callanan Ryan.

Michael Bulfin will be making an appearance among the Sculptures of Lough Boora Park including his own work Sky Train.

The film will also feature a special installation of artists’ works presented at Rosalind and Derek Fanning’s St. Brendan’s House and Tin Jug Studio of Birr, including the works of Hazel Greene : Artist, Eileen Casey, Rosemarie Langtry Artist, Caroline Conway and Jock Nichol, with prose read by Darragh O’Toole.

This film will be a lasting legacy to the creativity of the county and should not be missed.
