New Exhibition of Work by Contemporary Lace Artist Theresa Kelly
An exhibition launch of new work by contemporary artist Theresa Kelly. Inspired by the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh, Theresa’s practice is focused on contemporary lace design and its interaction of other materials. She says, ‘Kavanagh’s poetry and prose are indelibly rooted in the Monaghan landscape. This new series of work is inspired by the beauty and textures in Kavanagh’s words. In effect a conversation between contemporary Carrickmacross Lace and poetry.’
Since first discovering the beauty of this traditional County Monaghan craft, Theresa’s practice has evolved through the years, always pushing the boundaries of lacemaking while finding her own voice and aesthetic.
The exhibition will be available to view from 21st Sept until the 1st Oct.
