‘Reperforming State Memory’ – our Artist-in-Residence John Beattie’s two-year project with the National Archives – engages with our collections and works collaboratively with staff to explore different modes of display and representations of archive material. Over the course of his residency, John will create an exciting body of work that re-stages and brings to life a series of historical narratives and events from the period 1921–1923. On Culture Night, John will walk through and demonstrate to our visitors the making of his recent installation, the ‘Reperforming State Memory – Work in Progress’ exhibition at the National Archives which is open to the public from 10am till 5pm, Monday–Friday.
