Description:

Nano Nagle Place will host a range of activities this Culture Night.

1. Ceangailte: A New Collaborative Audiovisual Exhibition – Global Hub 5pm to 9pm
Ceangailte by David Mathúna and Jake Riordan explores how media representations shape narratives of colonialism, oppression, and resilience through a dynamic dual-screen display, immersive audio and sculptural elements. Drawing on the Irish word ceangailte (the definitions of which approximate “tied”, “connected”, or “bound”), ‘Ceangailte’ weaves together a multiplicity of perspectives from former colonies of Empire, reflecting on power structures and emancipatory aspirations. By juxtaposing establishment narratives with harsh realities, it invites viewers to confront what is outwardly expressed by mainstream media and what is internally pursued by those in power.
2. Film Screening: Drowned Land – Conference Space
6pm to 8pm
Directed by Choctaw filmmaker Colleen Thurston, Drowned Land is a powerful documentary following Indigenous and local water protectors fighting to preserve Oklahoma’s Kiamichi River from environmental exploitation and water diversion projects. Set within the Choctaw Nation, the film explores environmental justice, cultural heritage, displacement, and community resilience, highlighting the enduring connection between people and place.
3. New exhibition: 250 Years of the Presentation Sisters: Lighting the Way – Goldie Chapel
2pm to 9pm
A new exhibition celebrating 250 years of the Presentation Sisters. The exhibition explores how the vision and values that inspired Nano Nagle have travelled across generations and continents, taking root in diverse communities while continuing to place education, compassion, service and social justice at the heart of the Presentation mission.
4. Free entry to the Museum all day
