Description:
This Culture Night, Na Píobairí Uilleann will open the doors of its Georgian headquarters on Henrietta Street for an evening celebrating the sound and tradition of the uilleann pipes.
Throughout the evening, visitors can attend talks and piping demonstrations in the library, taking place on the hour, every hour, and discover the history, craftsmanship, and musical traditions associated with Ireland’s national instrument. In the basement, live performances by traditional Irish musicians of all ages will showcase the spirit of Ireland’s piping tradition.
There will also be the opportunity to try the uilleann pipes yourself, with a hands-on session provisionally scheduled from 19:00-20:00, subject to demand. Please register interest in trying the pipes by emailing info@pipers.ie.
Set within one of Dublin’s most historic streets, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience a treasured element of Ireland’s musical heritage and learn more about the tradition that continues to inspire musicians today.
