Description:

The concert will be performed by Lynda O’Connor (violin) and Ailbhe O’Connor (cello). They will play pieces by Ailbhe McDonagh, Astor Piazzola, the Handel Halvorsen Passacaglia for violin and cello, Jules Massenet, Johan Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Lynda O’Connor is one of Ireland’s leading violinists, celebrated for her dynamic performances and artistic range. She has enjoyed a vibrant international career as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. Lynda has performed with Camerata Ireland, the International Mahler Orchestra and the RTE orchestras, appearing in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Cadogan Hall and Theatre des Champs Elysees.

A dedicated musician, Lynda is a founding member of the Ficino Ensemble, Belisama Trio and Trio Elatha and has collaborated with musicians including Barry Douglas and John O’Conor.

Ailbhe McDonagh is an internationally recognised cellist and composer, known for her work as both a soloist and chamber musician.

As an accomplished chamber musician, she has collaborated with the acclaimed pianist John O’Conor, with her sister Orla McDonagh, and with violinist Lynda O’Connor. She is a member of the Ficino Ensemble and the traditional Irish music crossover group Trio Elatha.
Ailbhe is also an established composer with over 250 published works and commissions to her name. She is a widely commissioned and celebrated composer with a breadth of works written for orchestra, chamber music and solo instruments.
