The Music Generation ‘Cavan and Monaghan Ensemble’, was formed in June 2021 in celebration for this year’s ‘Cruinniú na nÓg’.

The COVID- 19 pandemic brought many challenges to all generations. However, this did not stop 12 extremely talented, young teenage musicians as they embarked on the challenge to work alongside renowned Monaghan musician, composer & musical director  Michael Rooney.

Over 4 weeks, as a collaboration they engaged in zoom rehearsals were they learnt a newly composed suite – brimming with harmonies and new rhythms for them all to master.
We are delighted to announce that this ensemble will perform this suite called ‘enter name’ as part of the celebration for this years Culture night.

This ensemble with be joined with Michael Rooney on Harp, Kieran Leonard on Drums, Jack Warnock on Guitar and Aishling Mc Phillips on Flute. This will be the first time the group will have the opportunity to perform to a ‘live audience’ and this is something not to be missed.
