‘Moving Parts’ is Áine Byrne’s first solo exhibition at Hens Teeth studio, consisting of drawings and a sculptural textile installation. Performance and sound are in collaboration with Dancer and artist Aoibhinn O’Dea and musician Tracy McEvoy. Large scale tufted woollen shapes in the space can be static or activated and transformed by the body in motion. The form and shape of the work was created by drawing the improvised body movements of Aoibhinn which in turn were a response to the rhythm and rituals of weaving, spinning and tufting. Like the 1920’s Bauhaus Triadic Ballet, described at the time as a “party of form and colour” Áine has started to create a playful tactile process for this new work.
