Culture Night Miscellany at St John’s Theatre

St. John's Theatre / Listowel Town Park

St John’s Theatre celebrates Culture Night 2022 with a sparkling evening of theatre, poetry, storytelling and song. We are proud to feature Nicholas Makin, Victoria Kennefick, Larry Beau and Sean Lyons who will entertain, intrigue and amuse from 7pm until midnight.

Nicholas Makin’s half hour theatre ‘A Dead Man’s Dreams’ is a tragically comic look at art and the artistic process, family relationships and mortality, loosely based on his father’s last days in a care home.

Facing his last days in the confines of the Illawarra Home for the Aged renown Australian artist Barney struggles to complete his final work and leave a meaningful inheritance for his children. Not all goes to plan however as family and the grim reaper intervene in this tragically comic look at art and the artistic process, family relationships and mortality.

Following theatre, multiple award-winning poet Victoria Kennefick will showcase the limitless power of the spoken word as a tool for connection, transformation and positive culture change.

Sean Lyons will engage the audience with his hilarious stories of old, while modern-day Irish Minstrel, Larry Beau will fill the church with his voice and dramatic stage presence. He will see out the night with his collection of songs from a growing repertoire.
