Meeting of the Spirits – Spanish Culture Night

- Offline
Description:
Meeting of the Spirits - Spanish Culture Night.
Galway City is famous for its music and its Spanish heritage and Spanish Culture Night at The Ol' 55 is a celebration of both. The ties that bind The City of the Tribes with Spain go back centuries and are still as alive now as when the Spanish Galleons were docking from Malaga, Bilbao and Barcelona down at the Spanish Arch. Even James Joyce, who knew a thing or two about Galway, was known to refer to it as ‘that Spanish City’. Still today, the Spanish community is as dynamic as ever and is as indispensable to the fabric of Galway City as they have been for centuries.
At Spanish Culture Night we will celebrate this together.
The title ‘Meeting of the Spirits’ refers to music from the famous Flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucía .
The night will feature the Galway based Spanish troupe - Flamenway, whose music imbues the vibrant pasíon of Flamenco and fuses the contagious energy of the City of the Tribes with their own native land. The Ol' 55 is an independent grassroots Galway bar and venue located just off Eyre Square in the Heart of the City. Established in 2018 it has become a haven for original and distinctive artists and musicians from near and afar. Spain and Galway are the oldest of amigo's and with Spanish Culture Night we will celebrate in full this Meeting of the Spirits and renew our friendship with Music, Dance and Song
