The Blue Egg Gallery is delighted to host this exhibition by Alison Kay and Frances Lambe, two of Ireland’s most distinguished potters. This is the first time both makers have exhibited as a duo. Plans for Making Time were initiated some time ago. The pause demanded by COVID-19 precautions, rather than
being a problem, instead gave more space to both makers for the germination and development of their ideas.
Alison Kay is well-known for her striking, hand-built smoke-fired sculptural forms in raku clay. Here she will explore new directions in terms of the colour palette and the surface patterns as well as making series of wall pieces.
For Making Time Frances Lambe is producing a series of sculptural ceramics in terracotta coloured stoneware and in black clay, decorated with intricate perforated patterns, occasionally interrupted by gold leaf. This work will reflect her deep interest in the natural world, in particular her love of the sea and her fascination with the interface between sea and land.
Making Time will open on Saturday 10th September and run until Saturday 8th October. Gallery opening times are Tuesday to Saturday 11.00am to 5.30pm.
The gallery will remain open until 8pm on Culture Night, Friday 23rd September.
