Macdara Yeates, Dónal Fallon and Roxanna Nic Liaim

- Offline
Description:
East Wall folk singer Macdara Yeates teams up with historian Dónal Fallon (Three Castles Burning) and East Wall actor/poet Roxanna Nic Liaim (and more) for a special performance of songs, poetry and social history to celebrate the centenary of playwright, poet and singer Brendan Behan. Born on Russell Street off the North Circular Road in 1923, Behan’s seminal plays The Quare Fellow and the Hostage earned him international acclaim on Broadway and London’s West End, before his untimely death in 1961. Today, Behan is one of a generation of figures who form the musical and literary tapestry of the North Inner City, a world which is richly explored in the recent award-winning documentary North Circular. Following the performance, gig-goers can take a short walk to D-Light studios, where director Luke McManus will host a screening of the film from 9pm.
This performance is part of an exciting programme of events at Spencer Dock for Culture Night Dublin 2023. Explore what else is happening at this venue in our web listings.
