Lithuanian Traditional Cuisine and Cooking Presentation

- Offline
Description:
The Embassy of Lithuania is excited to present an evening of traditional cuisine, music and national costumes for Culture Night in Dublin this year.
Lithuanian cuisine has a variety of interesting dishes. There are five regions in Lithuania, within which the people cook traditional dishes that differ in character and content. All regions will be presented in the evening. Guests will try various types of cured meats, cheeses, sweets, rye bread and many more different traditional foods and beverages, and experience an authentic process of baking Šakotis (Tree cake). Šakotis is a popular Lithuanian traditional cake. Its name means ""branched"" and describes its distinctive shape. It is baked by painting layers of batter onto a rotating spit over the wood-burning fire in a special oven. Šakotis is one of the most loved desserts in Lithuanian celebrations, especially at weddings or other most important family gatherings.
